Yes, we did look at the US and Russian system and recieved in-depth presentations on them by the labs. The group felt that one could skip a number of design steps and make something even simpler. The interesting aspect of the design we discussed at the AWE was that it was more or less proposed by and therefore acceptable to a non-nuclear weapon state. Early days, we'll see how it pans out, and how it will be presented to the community.
